Miracles in the Making…

~Miracles in the making~

~Psalm 126:1-6~
WHEN THE Lord brought back the captives [who returned] to Zion, we were like those who dream [it seemed so unreal]. [Ps. 53:6; Acts 12:9.]

Then were our mouths filled with laughter, and our tongues with singing. Then they said among the nations, The Lord has done great things for them. The Lord has done great things for us! We are glad! Turn to freedom our captivity and restore our fortunes, O Lord, as the streams in the South (the Negeb) [are restored by the torrents].

They who sow in tears shall reap in joy and singing. He who goes forth bearing seed and weeping [at needing his precious supply of grain for sowing] shall doubtless come again with rejoicing, bringing his sheaves with him.

Quite often the work of God in our life is like a dream, like a whirlwind, it happens all of a sudden, right under our noses but all of a sudden something major is accomplished and its almost like we didn’t see it coming although we were waiting for it!

Think how you felt the at the time when the very thing you had been praying for finally happened. We had always hoped and prayed but in a funny way often we don’t even believe it when it happens. It seems unreal almost, like a dream come true and that is what the first verses of this Psalm are describing! A miracle!

Have you ever been in this position? I have on several occasions and I know that the feeling is one of jubilation, immense joy, relief, thankfulness, gratefulness, wonder and amazement and the blessing, at how this is ‘just’ what you needed even if you didn’t really know what you wanted in the first place.

It also speaks of another important principle that happens in our lives…. Those who sow in tears shall reap in joy. Really it is the most beautiful picture, someone going out to do what they need to do, in this case sow the seed so they would have the food they need in the future and the produce to sell for them to live off.

They’re struggling, they’re weeping yet they still get up and go out and faithfully, even if only barely, to do what needs to be done. The result – they shall reap and bring in the harvest as well.

It’s really not easy when you are in this season to do what needs to be done… I am also reminded of the generations that have gone before us… Think…. if they hadn’t planted, toiled, through drought and snow and stifling heat, no matter if they were sick or elderly, they would not have survived.

We have lost some of this grit and determination, the perseverance and stickability they had. They knew they had no choice…. and our generations are still deciding if they can, or will or want to!

Let’s reclaim that pioneer spirit, the resilience, determination, fortitude and let’s keep trudging through the snow together till we get to the other side of the season.

What a beautiful picture of promise for us in our times of simultaneous faithfulness and struggle! This is how God works, he knows, he sees and he meets the need, grows us and teaches us and he also rewards us and blesses us!

So today if you and I are in a season of weeping and sowing, keep in mind it may not be too long till reaping and laughing!
