What does it all mean?

Have you been pondering the meaning of life? I have. With more and more crisis happening all around the world and the travesties that are occurring, diseases, disasters… it all leaves me feeling that so much of what we treasure might just actually be meaningless.

The more I hear of the world news, the less I want to eat lavishly, shop extravagantly, buy unnecessarily, spend time frivolously, have more material possessions, the latest this and the latest that… We take none of these things with us.  I find that ‘things’ are losing their meaning to me. I want to use my time so much more wisely, give where the needs are, pray for those suffering, use my influence for good in every way I can.

The things that used to hold some attraction have seriously become tarnished and the amount of waste in our lives is beginning to stick out like a sore thumb to me.

I am loving reading Ecclesiastes. I haven’t really read that book properly for a long time but its a perfect book of the bible to be going through at this time. Really its well worth a read just to hear King Solomon’s thought processes.

It’s about the meaning of life. Solomon, the wisest man, gives himself to the study of the meaning of life. The verse that kept coming to my mind, the verse which prompted me to read it was Ecclesiastes 1:2 “Vanity of vanities, says the preacher, vanity of vanities! All is vanity.” One version of the bible puts it like this… vs 1 “Meaningless, meaningless, all is meaningless.”

I have found myself aligning with King Solomon in Ecclesiastes 1. I relate to his findings…He then proceeds to look at and try all kinds of things in life that he might find hope and meaning in…. but it all culminates in Chapter 12:13 as listed below…

All has been heard; the end of the matter is: Fear God [ revere and worship Him, knowing that He is] and keep His commandments, for this is the whole of man [ the full, original purpose of his creation, the object of God’s providence, the root of character, the foundation of all happiness, the adjustment to all inharmonious circumstances and conditions under the sun] and the whole [ duty] for every man. For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it is good or evil. [Matt. 12:36; Acts 17:30, 31; Rom. 2:16; I Cor. 4:5. ]
For me the meaning of it all, the meaning of life, is eternal life.
The eternal not the temporal is what it’s all about.
The light being shone on all that is happening around us is really showing things up for what they are.

Ephesians 5:13-15

But when anything is exposed and reproved by the light, it is made visible and clear; and where everything is visible and clear there is light.

Therefore He says, Awake, O sleeper, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall shine (make day dawn) upon you and give you light.

Look carefully then how you walk! Live purposefully and worthily and accurately, not as the unwise and witless, but as wise (sensible, intelligent people),

Considering this topic is a great opportunity to share with people about the real meaning, the hope we have in the one who is eternal.
I think its very timely as we all need to consider what is the meaning of life?
What is really important?
What should we be doing?
What is eternal?
Think about it… what is meaningful to you?

To everything there is a season…

To everything there is a season…
✽¸.•♥♥•. Ecclesiastes 3:1 .•♥♥•.¸✽
To every thing there is a season,
and a time for every purpose
under the heavens:

***To everything there is a season….

God created earthly seasons…
He also created other seasons that we find ourselves in.
A season is a season..
A season doesn’t last forever.
It is a season!

***A time for every purpose under heaven…

There is a purpose that He has for us right now.
This is the time for it.
Do you know what the purpose is?
If you do then listen out and follow His lead
If you don’t know then look around you, it’s probably right under your nose!

***Under the heavens…

We are under the heavens no matter where we are.
We are under the covering of God.
We need to stay under His cover

When we stay under His cover then His seasons flow & His purposes come about just as they should. God has a plan and purpose for all of us.

One purpose that He has for all of us is to ‘go into all the world and preach the gospel’. I hope you don’t think I am becoming a broken record but its a most beautiful purpose. He has a plan for every soul to hear the gospel.
He has a plan to bring salvation into every house.

My purpose at the moment is to bring this to the fore of our minds.
He is the Gift send from God. An eternal Gift. A Gift that keeps on giving.

My purpose it to remind us that He is near and to really consider what we believe in this hour.

My purpose is to stir us up, to wake up and purposefully go through each day with our eyes open to where and how He wants to use us.

In this season….
Plant seeds of hope
Plant seeds of eternal life through the Son
Plant seeds of His amazing all-encompassing love
Plant seeds of being a giver of the gift of eternal life through the Gift we have been given.

What are things really worth after all???

Ecclesiastes 2:1-11

“I said in my heart, Come now, I will test you with mirth; therefore consider and behold goodness; this also is vanity. I said of laughter, It is madness; and of mirth, What does it do?

I sought in my heart to drag my flesh with wine, yet leading my heart with wisdom; and to lay hold on folly, until I might see where the good for the sons of men might be, what they should do under the heavens all the days of their life.

I made my works great; I built houses for myself; I planted vineyards for myself. I made gardens and orchards for myself, And I planted trees in them, of all fruit. I made pools of water for myself, to water the forest shooting forth trees.

I bought slaves and slave women, and sons of the house were mine; also livestock, a herd and a great flock were mine, above all that were before me in Jerusalem. I also gathered silver and gold to myself, and the treasure of kings and of the provinces. I got men singers and women singers for myself, and the delights of the sons of men, a wife and very many wives.

I was great and increased more than all that were before me in Jerusalem; also my wisdom remained with me. And whatever my eyes desired I did not keep from them; I did not withhold my heart from any joy; for my heart rejoiced in all my labor, and this was my part of all my labor.

Then I looked on all the works that my hands had done, and on the labor that I had labored to do; and, behold, all is vanity and vexation of spirit; and there is no profit under the sun.”

Read the above passage and then ask yourself…

What is the real meaning of life?

Where do we find meaning?

What is really worth it and what do we take with us into eternity?

Who do we take?
